God of This City – Part 4

God of This City – Part 4

Are you willing to make your city a better place to live? Toronto is a large and influential city. Other cities that have made a name for themselves include New York, the first city to cross the 10 million mark in 1925. Tokyo became the largest city in 1965, London in 1825, Istanbul in 1650 and Rome in 25. If you scan the list down through the annals of history you will find the Assyrian capital of Nineveh listed as the world’s largest in 668 BC.  Nineveh was the oldest and most populous city of the ancient Assyrian Empire, located on the east bank of the Tigris River opposite modern Mosul, Iraq. It is to this great city that God called his prophet Jonah, to extend His goodness and peace. But Jonah was unwilling to engage and really be a part of making the city a better place. This week we will examine what had to happen to prepare Jonah to accept the call to the city.
