Up until the 1970’s it was typical for Canadian children to recite the Lord’s Prayer each day at school. Even now, those not familiar with the Bible will likely have heard it at some point in their lives. The Los Angeles Times reported that on Easter Sunday 2007, it was estimated that many of the two billion Catholic, Anglican, Protestant and Eastern Orthodox Christians who were sharing in the celebration of Easter would read, recite, or sing the short prayer in hundreds of languages. Why is this prayer so famous? And what can we learn from it today? That is what we will explore for the next few Sundays. Join us at one of our three Sunday services: 10:30 AM at Innis Town Hall, Downtown Toronto; 2:30 PM at World Vision Center in Mississauga; and 5:00 PM at The Chinese Cultural Center in Scarborough.
