Two thousand years ago, medical treatment as we know it today was almost non-existent. When a man was diagnosed with a communicable disease like leprosy, he would have to leave his home, his family, his friends and job behind. No one would want to come near. Not only would he be experiencing physical pain, but the emotional pain of deep loss and rejection. How do you think such a person would react if he were suddenly and completely healed? Thankful, right? But maybe not. As we celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday we will look at two different responses to being healed at the hands of Jesus for a picture of what it really means to be thankful.
