Ekklesia
Church.
What comes to mind when you hear that word? For some it’s a building, a worship service, or an organization providing religious goods and services.
Jesus and the NT scriptures most often used the word ekklesia (ek-klay-see-ah) to refer to the church and it means ‘a called out people.’ Essentially the church is the people God’s called to himself out of the world for his purposes in the world.
This series aims to explore what the early church looked like and focused on then, in order for us to consider what the church should look like and focus on now.
Much has changed between the 1st and 21st century church, but some things remain essential. And it is these essentials we highlight so that we too may experience the growth, faithfulness and fruitfulness now what we see the church experienced then.
Ekklesia. Church then and now.
