Real Hope

Hope is a powerful force in our world and essential to a flourishing life. In fact Scripture names hope as one of the 3 forces or virtues of human existence (alongside faith and love).

But what do we mean by hope? Is it simply a wish, desire or some kind of optimism about a favourable outcome?

The reality of our world and lives demands more than just wishful thinking or sentimental optimism towards our circumstances. We need a hope that is sure, real and trustworthy, that remains unshakable in the face of life’s worst. We need a hope that not even suffering nor death can destroy.

And this is the kind of hope Jesus and scripture offer. That’s what this series is about: discovering real hope for the real world.
