Galatians 6:7 “A man reaps what he sows.”
In this verse, and in others like it, we are introduced to the general principle, that as a man sows he will reap. People who work in the field of agriculture know this personally – as a seed is sown into the ground, they expect it to bring forth a crop. If the sowing is liberal, and the seed is good, they expect the crop to be plentiful. It is also a principle we apply to our acts of charity. Those who have been in the habit of giving liberally of their talents and abilities, from a sincere heart, to honour God and bless others, can tell you that they have lost nothing, but have reaped generously in return. This Sunday is Volunteer Sunday – a time we have set aside to focus on how we can serve God and others. Every talent and every ability has the potential to make a difference in this world and in the lives of the people around us. There is no better reward than to hear our own Lord whisper to us, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!‘ Matthew 25:21. If you are not sure how, or what it means, to serve God and others, join us this Sunday, Innis Town Hall, @ 10:30 a.m., and we will learn together. See you then.
