Finding Joy in Humility

Finding Joy in Humility

Think of someone in business, sports or entertainment who has achieved a measure of success in their field. How would you describe them in a word? Would you say… Ambitious? Motivated? Determined? What about… Humble? It is difficult to see how a path marked by humility can be attractive, or one to be imitated. Yet there is something strangely alluring about the life of someone who selflessly gives of themselves for the sake of others. You might wonder, are they truly happy? If so, how did they get to be that way? CS Lewis gives us a clue: “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” Someone who demonstrated the ultimate attitude of humility is Jesus. Is there something that we can learn from his example that makes sense for us today? That’s what we’ll explore in part 3 of our Finding Joy series. Join us for more this Sunday at 10:30am, Sidney Smith Hall, 100 St George Street.
